Franz Rehling

Franz Rehling (born January 21, 1892 in Freiburg / Elbe ; † January 26, 1973 ) was mayor and honorary citizen of the municipality of Freiburg (Elbe).

Life

Rehling attended the rector's school in Freiburg and the Buxtehude building trade school , where he passed his examination as a master mason . In 1928 he became head master of the building trade guild. For more than 50 years he was a sworn appraiser of the Landschaftliche Brandkasse as well as a longtime assessor of the master craftsman's examination commission and chairman of the journeyman's examination commission. For 13 years he taught as a specialist teacher at the Kehdingen vocational school.

In 1924 Rehling became a member of the district council of the Kehdingen district (until 1932). During the Second World War he became mayor of Freiburg and remained in office - with an interruption from 1945 to 1947 - until he left in 1972. For reasons of age, he did not stand for re-election in 1972. From 1946 to 1972 Rehling was a member of the board of the Lower Saxony Municipal Assembly, Dept. Stade.

In addition to his professional and local political commitment, Franz Rehling was district rifle master from 1930 to 1971 and from 1958 to 1972 commander of the Freiburg rifle guild from 1598.
