Franz Rotter (engineer)

Franz Rotter (born July 30, 1957 in Zeltweg ) is an Austrian business manager .

Life

Rotter initially studied mining engineering at the Montan University Leoben . After a professional career in the Voestalpine Group as a designer, he took over the production management of the railway systems division in 1986 and in 1989 the management of the technical division of the mining division. After Voestalpine Bergtechnik GmbH became an independent company in 1990 , he was initially a deputy member of the management board and, from 1992, its spokesman. After the company was privatized by way of a sale to the US company Tamrock (now Sandvik ), he left the company at the end of 1996.

In 1997 he became a member of the board of Iso-Holding AG for technology and in 1998 took over the chairmanship of Austria Antriebstechnik AG (ATB) with headquarters in Spielberg and ATB Antriebstechnik AG with headquarters in Welzheim in Germany .

After joining the management of Aluminum Ranshofen Walzwerk Ges.mbH in 2000 . In 2002 he became spokesman for the management of AMAG rolling GmbH and board member of Austria Metall AG and, from 2005, its chief operating officer (COO). In 2007 he came to Böhler-Uddeholm AG and became a member of the board. After the complete takeover of Böhler-Uddeholm by Voestalpine AG, Böhler-Uddeholm became the “Special Steels” department of Voestalpine Edelstahl GmbH, of which Rotter became head.

Since January 1, 2011 he has been a member of the board of directors of Voestalpine AG and head of the “Special Steels” department.

Private

Franz Rotter is married and has two grown children.
