Franz Sättler

Franz Sättler (born March 7, 1884 in Brüx ; † around 1942) was a German occultist , alchemist and deceiver . He used the pseudonym Dr. Musallam .

Sättler received his doctorate in oriental studies . He was head of the Adonist Society he founded in Austria in 1925 , which is still banned there today. Under the pseudonym Dr. Musallam, Sättler published a number of occult writings on magic, astromagy, cartomancy and spiritualism and worked on the spread of Adonism , an ideological secret doctrine, the historical roots of which he said he exposed during his travels to the Middle East. In the 1920s he was the editor of Dido magazine. He was an admirer of Karl May .

Sättler was sentenced to 4 ½ years in prison in the early 1920s. In 1932 the police tried to arrest him for various fraudulent offenses. However, he was able to withdraw to Greece, where he was placed. However, an extradition request was not granted. He is said to have died in 1942.
