Franz Schürer

Franz Schürer (born October 31, 1900 in Mettmach ; † April 7, 1973 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and foreman of the Austrian Federal Railways . From 1953 to 1962 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

After primary school, Schürer attended a class at the commercial school and then learned to be a fitter. He joined the Austrian Federal Railways in 1918 and was employed as a foreman. In 1919 he became a member of the Social Democratic Party in 1919 and represented the SPÖ in the National Council between March 18, 1953 and December 14, 1962. In local politics, Schürer was active as deputy mayor from 1946 to October 22, 1961, and was mayor between October 22, 1961 and May 24, 1968. Schürer was also active within the party as deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ Vöcklabruck and from 1945 was district chairman of the ÖGB Vöcklabruck.
