The so-called French Cross is located at the western exit of Oberkammlach , a district of the municipality of Kammlach in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The wayside cross is directly on the federal road 18 between Oberkammlach in the direction of Erkheim and was probably built on the site of a previous cross in the second half of the 19th century. The monument consists of a base made of Nagelfluh on which a crucifix made of cast iron is placed. It has a white marble tablet with the following inscriptions:

“In these fields / are buried those in the / battle of v. 13 Aug 1796 / fallen French / d. Condéer et al. Republica. / Troops "

- Upper inscription on the base plate

"From Blitz u. Thunderstorm / From plague hunger u. War / proceeds u. Lord Jesus Christ "

- Lower inscription on the base plate
