The Friar van Tilburg (German brothers from Tilburg or Christian Brothers of Tilburg , officially Latin Congregatio Fratrum Beatae Mariae Virginis, Matris Misericordiae , Dutch friar of Congregatie van Onze Lieve Vrouw, Moeder van Barmhartigheid translated Brothers of Our Lady, Mother of Mercy ), religious symbol CMM , is a religious institute for men, which was founded on August 25th, 1844 by coadjutor bishop Johannes Zwijsen in the industrial city of Tilburg (Netherlands).

During the time of the reorganization of the Catholic Church in the Netherlands, the brothers are particularly active in the field of Catholic teaching. This was done through the establishment of schools and through a school method developed by them, which was titled as Veilig leren lezen . The brothers were also able to print school books through their own print shop. In addition to schools, they also donated many educational institutions, as well as institutes for orphans, the disabled and other people in need of care who were cared for by the brothers.

Since the 1950s, the brothers went on missions to Indonesia, Kenya, Congo, Southwest Africa and Brazil. They also built a house in Cork, Ireland and in 1963 California. In the 1980s and 1990s, the community grew in Indonesia and Kenya. However, the number of members in the Netherlands and Belgium decreased.

In 2003 there were 124 Fratres in the Netherlands, 22 Fratres in Belgium, 4 Fratres in Suriname, 121 Fratres in Indonesia, 5 Fratres in Namibia, 42 Fratres in Kenya, 13 Fratres in Brazil and 3 Fratres in the USA. You work in the school and health service.

The generalate of the fraternity is in the Netherlands. Broer Lawrence Obiko has been General Superior since 2014 .
