As Frau von Smørenge (also Smøreenge, Danish Guldkvinde fra Smørenge ) is a golden statuette that was found in 2013 by an amateur archaeologist in a field near Smørenge on the Danish island of Bornholm . He had previously discovered several small golden human figures made of sheet gold, gold men”. The object now found is about 4.2 cm high, weighs only 3 grams and is female. The woman is shown naked except for a belt (or a tattoo in this area).

The unique find met with great interest. The interpretations speak of a ritual fertility symbol that hits a backflip. Two features of the figure are particularly noticeable: the exaggeratedly elaborated spine with ten vertebrae and the recurved pose.

Martin Rundkvist considers the jagged spine of women to be that of a thin person. At the same time, it is seen as a symbolic rather than a naturalistic representation, to which there are no known parallels.

In a different geographical and cultural context, backbone accentuations on Maltese figures from the temple phase (around 3600-2500 BC) are known. However, these terracottas do not have a generally accepted interpretation.
