The Cross of Merit for Women was donated on April 25, 1912 by Duke Albrecht zu Mecklenburg as regent of the Duchy of Braunschweig in two classes.

It could be given to women and virgins who had made a valuable contribution to charity through self-sacrificing personal work.

To be awarded the 1st class, you had to have been in the 2nd class for 10 years. However, this could be waived in exceptional cases.

The medal is an equal- armed cross made of silver (1st class gold-plated silver) with leaf-shaped ends. On the cross arms is perpendicular inscription THAT CONDITION IN GOOD and horizontal CHARITY . The back of the cross is smooth.

The award was worn as a bow on a white ribbon with dark blue stripes.

After the death of the entrusted, the medal was to be returned to the chancellery .
