Fraunhofer patent office for German research

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fraunhofer Patent Office for German Research (PST) in Munich was an institution of the Fraunhofer Society from 1955 to 2007 . She advised independent inventors who were not funded by the industry and supported them in the exploitation of their inventions , for example with the registration and licensing of patents .

So she took on the role of an active mediator between science and business. The acquisition and marketing of qualified inventions, in particular from universities, research institutions, companies as well as technology advice and brokerage form the core of this contract.

The patent office had to end its activity on December 31, 2007. The liquidation took place for tax reasons. The Bavarian State Ministry of Finance had informed the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in March 2007 that the patent office's advisory services were not related to specific research and therefore did not meet the requirements of a non-profit-making operation . The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft had to take this into account in order not to endanger the public benefit of the entire society.
