The Fraunhoferstraße in Straubing in Bavaria is a side street of the town square.

It is located in the historical urban area of ​​the ducal re-establishment of Straubing and was named in 1827 after the German optician Joseph von Fraunhofer , who was born on this street. Fraunhofer's birthplace today has the address Fraunhoferstraße 3 and since 1827 two early classicist memorial plaques and a bronze bust on the house have been a reminder.

The approximately 220-meter-long Fraunhoferstraße runs north from Ludwigsplatz to Querstraße, which runs parallel to the city ​​wall . The Fraunhoferstraße, which is broad compared to other side streets, was only widened after the city fire of 1780. Before it was renamed, it was called Rindermarkt .

The street belongs to the protected ensemble Altstadt Straubing . In addition to Fraunhofer's birthplace, fifteen other houses on the street are listed as individual monuments.

On the western side of the street, listed architectural monuments are the corner house Fraunhoferstraße 1 (Ludwigsplatz 17), from house number 7 to house number 23 all buildings and house number 29. On the eastern side of the street there are the corner house Ludwigsplatz 21 and the house numbers 8, 14, 18, 20 and 30 of Fraunhoferstrasse.
