Fred Bauer
Fred Bauer , actually Alfred Bauer-Benois, (born June 29, 1928 in Herisau ) is a Swiss graphic designer and artist .
Life
Bauer completed an apprenticeship in graphic design and then studied at the St. Gallen School of Design . Since 1965 he has been working as a freelance painter , graphic artist, wood cutter, book and poster designer and illustrator. He's also creative with stamps and glasswork, and he's also a children's book writer.
Today Fred Bauer lives and works in Küsnacht near Zurich.
Works
He became famous for his posters, which he designed for large art exhibitions, his woodcuts, his postage stamps and his pictures, which were shown in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. Various illustrations for school and children's books, commissioned by institutions, publishers and museums are also an important pillar for Fred Bauer.
Awards
- In 1958 he received the Federal Art Scholarship
- In 1965 and 1980 he received the award " Swiss Poster of the Year " for his work
Exhibitions
In his early years, Fred Bauer rarely exhibited his works, and from the late 1990s onwards he presented them regularly at events and in galleries.
