Fred Sanderson

Fred R. Sanderson (born July 28, 1872 in Galesburg , Illinois , † August 2, 1928 there ) was an American tennis player .

biography

Sanderson was known in his hometown as an all-round sportsman. In addition to tennis, he played golf, football, basketball and polo. He was the Western Illinois tennis champion. He graduated from Knox College in his hometown. His father was the city's first mayor.

Sanderson took part in the tennis competition at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis . In the individual he did not arrive after two byes in the first rounds against the later silver medalist Robert LeRoy , against whom he lost 6: 3 and 6: 3. He did not compete in doubles.
