Freddy Van Oystaeyen

Freddy Van Oystaeyen , also Fred Van Oystaeyen, (* 1947 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian mathematician who studies algebra.

Van Oystaeyen received his doctorate in 1972 from the Free University of Amsterdam under Willem Kuijk (Specialization of fields). He has been a professor at the University of Antwerp since 1975 , where he has now retired.

He is considered one of the pioneers in non-commutative algebraic geometry .

His doctoral students include Michel Van den Bergh and Alain Verschoren .
