Frederick William Schlieder

Frederick William Schlieder (born January 22, 1873 in Forreston (Illinois) , † January 13, 1953 in New York City ) was an American organist and music teacher.

Schlieder studied at Syracuse University and was an organ student of Alexandre Guilmant . He became president of the New York State Music Teachers Association in 1914 and was an organist at the Collegiate Church of Saint Nicholas at the time . He later taught music theory at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music . He published two works on organ improvisation: Lyric composition through improvisation (1927) and Improvisation at the organ (1949).
