from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fredericton and Grand Lake Coal and Railway was a railway company in the Canadian province of New Brunswick . It was founded on March 26, 1910 and built a standard gauge , 53.3 km long railway line from South Devon to Minto by 1913 . South Devon lies across from the provincial capital Fredericton on the Saint John River . There was a connection to the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and a route of the Canadian Government Railways was crossed. The line represented the western extension of the New Brunswick Coal and Railway (NBCR), which was planned in the 1880s, and the line connected to it in Minto.

On November 4, 1914, the CPR leased the railway together with the NBCR and continued operations. The Fredericton & Grand Lake Coal and Railway Company was dissolved on December 28, 1955 and integrated into the CPR. The line is no longer in operation.
