Frederik Vilhelm Hegel

Frederik Vilhelm Hegel (born May 11, 1817 in the Fredensborg-Humlebæk municipality , † December 27, 1887 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish bookseller and publisher .

Life

At the age of fifteen he began training at Gyldendalske Boghandel in 1832 and in 1850 took over the company founded by Jacob Deichmann (1788–1853).

Under his direction, Gyldendal has published works by many of Norway's most important writers, including Bjørnson, Henrik Ibsen , Kielland, Lie and Asbjørnsen. Hegel also published a number of dictionaries, magazines, and school books.
