FreeCAD is a 3D - CAD - Software that the source code and program as free software is available.

Range of functions

General

The construction process offers the creation of three-dimensional objects; for this FreeCAD uses the Open CASCADE Technology . Objects are described with changeable parameters.

With an interpreter based on the Python programming language (version 3.6), commands can be automated and combined.

Most of the functions of the software are implemented using plug-ins . There are modules for creating objects from 2D geometry or for simulating robot movements.

2D drawings are generated from the 3D model by projection .

File formats

Files can be exported and imported in DXF , SVG , STEP , IGES and IFC formats .

The DWG format is not supported by FreeCAD.
