Herrenstrunden outdoor swimming pool
The Herrenstrunden outdoor pool is located in the Herrenstrunden district of Bergisch Gladbach in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .
history
Construction work on the Herrenstrunden outdoor pool began in 1930 at Kürtener Straße 339. The completed bathing facility was opened in 1934. Because the swimming pool was leaking and the technology was ailing, it had to be closed in 1990 because the city of Bergisch Gladbach had no budget for the necessary renovations. The 50 by 20 meter swimming pool and the paddling pool were filled in and the pool closed. Then nothing happened for nine years.
In 2008 the entire complex was auctioned. The new operator created a leisure facility here called the "Old Outdoor Pool" . Only the entrance building and the adjoining single-storey wing remained as a memorial.
