The Freiburg Sacristans are a German American football club from Freiburg im Breisgau . The club, founded in 1991, a division of the Freiburg Gymnastics Association from 1844 , currently plays in the Regionalliga Süd-West (3rd division).

history

After being founded in 1991, the Sacristans entered the league game in 1992. Initially with moderate success, the first winning season only succeeded in 1997 with the championship of the national league. In 2001 the Sacristans surprised Football Germany, because they join the Swiss American Football Association and start in Switzerland's top division , the National League. You end the trip to the neighboring country in eighth place in the table. In the 2002 season they returned to the AFVD and started again in the Association League. In 2007 they were promoted to the regional league, where they could keep up the following year and take third place in the final bill, directly behind the two GFL-2 promoters, the Rhein-Neckar Bandits and the Kaiserslautern Pikes .
