The Free Charismatic Congregations of Switzerland (FCGS) are an association of charismatic congregations in Switzerland and a member of the Association of Evangelical Free Churches and Congregations in Switzerland (VFG).
Emergence
Since 1987, those responsible from independent charismatic congregations have been meeting; the FCGS emerged from the regular meetings in 2004.
Structure and organization
The FCGS brings together the municipalities of German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland, from the cantons of Friborg, Wallis, Bern, Aargau, Luzen, Basel and Zurich. A total of 1400 adults visit the 15 member communities.
The municipalities united in the FCGS maintain a binding cooperation and see themselves as a service community. At joint activities and conferences, experiences are exchanged, doctrinal issues are discussed and encouragement and admonitions are given.
The board consists of a team of leaders from some of the member communities. They advise on future activities and prepare meetings. Each member community is organizationally and financially independent. The FCGS are an association within the meaning of Art. 60 ff ZGB .
Cooperation with other communities
The FCGS are members of the Association of Evangelical Free Churches and Congregations in Switzerland and are also in contact with an international, apostolic team. In Zug and Oberdiessbach, parishes of the FCGS belong to the local section of the Swiss Evangelical Alliance (SEA).
