Free Association of the XXIV

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Free Association of XXIV (also: Münchner 24 ) was an artist group in the environment of the Munich Secession .

The group came into being at an artists' regulars table in Café Roth in 1892. Fritz von Uhde was elected chairman . The original purpose was to improve the exhibition situation within the Secession. The preparations for the foundation already resulted in the expulsion of the members from the Secession. The group then exhibited in the Eduard Schulte Gallery in Berlin .

The unification can be seen as a harbinger of the later move of important protagonists of the Secession to Berlin, where the Berlin Secession established itself .
