The Mannheim overhead line pylon testing facility was operated by ABB in Mannheim for testing the static properties of overhead line pylons .

The system, which has existed since 1959 , could be used to test overhead line masts up to a corner post spacing of 18 × 18 meters. Overhead line masts with corner post distances of up to 12 × 12 meters could be tested with a torque of up to 40 MNm and with corner post distances of up to 18 × 18 meters with a tensile torque of up to 125 MNm. The two test racks of the Mannheim overhead line mast test facility were 65 meters high and equipped with 16 winches.

The system was one of only a few in the world and the only one in Germany. On it, for example, constructions of the Wuppertal suspension railway and floodlight masts of the Munich airport were tested.

In 2004 the plant was shut down, in 2006 the test racks were dismantled and the area was integrated into an industrial park.
