Admont Volunteer Fire Brigade

The Admont Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the four volunteer fire brigades in the Austrian market town of Admont in the north of Upper Styria about 20 km east of the district capital Liezen ( judicial district Liezen ). Other volunteer fire brigades are Hall bei Admont, Johnsbach and Weng.

The Admont Voluntary Fire Brigade is the only fire brigade in Austria to operate its own rescue department and is responsible for the rescue service for the communities of Ardning and Admont, including the towns of Admont, Aigen, Gstatterboden, Hall, Johnsbach, Krumau and Weng with around 6300 inhabitants. In addition to six fire engines, the Admont fire and rescue department also operates three ambulances , an ambulance and a makeshift ambulance . These five rescue vehicles carry out around 4000 transports per year; approx. 45 members of the fire brigade have been trained as paramedics .

In 1933 the first medical courses were held and the first equipment (stretcher) for the rescue service was purchased. It was customary at the time for fire and rescue services to be one organization. In 1937, for example, an ambulance was purchased for the first time for the fire department district of Lower Ennstal, which was stationed in Rottenmann. In 1938, however, the Admont ambulance was significantly strengthened by purchasing its own ambulance. In 1952, the rescue service was finally transferred to the Admont Volunteer Fire Brigade.
