Ambulances

As ambulances (commonly also ambulance or particularly military ambulances in Germany abbreviated as SanKra or Sanka called the Austrian army SanKW ) is called special two-track motor vehicles of rescue and patient transport . They are a subset of the ground-based life - saving appliances .

The following vehicles are ambulances standardized according to EN 1789:

• Ambulance (RTW), with the following two special types
  • Infection ambulance (I-RTW)
  • Heavy-duty ambulance (S-RTW)
• Emergency ambulance (NKTW)
• Emergency ambulance (NAW)
• Ambulance vehicles (KTW)
• Intensive care transport vehicle (ITW)

The following vehicles are also referred to as ambulances:

• Handicapped transport vehicles (BTW)
• Baby ambulance
• Auxiliary ambulance

In addition, the military maintains its own ambulance and ambulance transport associations with corresponding vehicles. These are more or less special cases of various ambulances .
