Frente Democrático Nacional

The Frente Democrático Nacional (FDN; dt .: National Democratic Front ) was a left-wing political electoral alliance for the Mexican presidential election in Mexico in 1988 , to which ultimately

united. The decisive factor for the merger in 1987 was the split of the so-called Corriente Democrática (German: democratic movement ) from the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), which was dissatisfied with the neoliberal policies of the PRI candidate Carlos Salinas de Gortari .

The common candidate of the FDN was Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano . The Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) emerged from the FDN in 1989 .
