Partido Auténtico de la Revolución Mexicana
The Partido Auténtico de la Revolución Mexicana (PARM; dt : Authentic Party of the Mexican Revolution ) was a political party founded in 1955 by veterans of the Mexican Revolution under the leadership of Juan G. Barragán and Jacinto B. Treviño , which existed until 2000. It was considered a satellite party of the ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI).
history
The founding idea arose when some of the revolutionary veterans could no longer identify with the politics of the PRI. With the intention of founding a new party, Barragán and Treviño, both generals of the revolutionary era and holders of political government offices, supported the incumbent President Adolfo Ruiz Cortines , who in turn saw advantages in the creation of an independent but coalition party and the founding of PARM and theirs Participation in elections as well as in the Congress of the Union Mexico agreed.
In 1994 the PARM lost its approval as a national party, received it again in 1999 in view of the presidential elections in the following year, for which they put up Porfirio Muñoz Ledo as a candidate. Due to a conflict between the party and its candidate, Muñoz Ledo finally stepped down a month before the election in favor of Vicente Fox . PARM did not accept this decision, nor was it able to register a new candidate with the Instituto Federal Electoral , thereby losing its approval as a national party.
Presidential candidates
Up to and including 1988, the PARM ran without a candidate in electoral alliances , up to and including 1982 with the PRI and the PPS and in 1988 together with the PPS, the PFCRN and the PMS as " Frente Democrático Nacional ". In 1994 Álvaro Pérez Treviño ran for PARM and in 2000 Porfirio Muñoz Ledo was originally nominated, but who withdrew from his candidacy shortly before the elections.
