history

Frickenhausen originated in the 8th century and was first mentioned in a document in 1167. After frequent changes of ownership, the village came into the hands of the Memmingen patrician Erhard Vöhlin in 1460 . In 1480 the Vöhlin family built their country castle in Frickenhausen , which was used as a parsonage from 1789. In 1520 the imperial city of Memmingen bought the whole place. In 1547 the city handed over the entire property to the Unterhospital in Memmingen. The imperial city of Memmingen came to Bavaria in 1803. The community Frickenhausen was created by the community edict of 1818. On May 1, 1978 Frickenhausen was incorporated into Lauben.
