Friedemann Quass

Friedemann Quaß (born May 1, 1941 in Taubenheim / Spree ) is a German ancient historian .

Quaß studied ancient history at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Göttingen and passed the first state examination in 1967. During his student days in Heidelberg, he joined the Thuringia choir, later Corps Thuringia , in SS 1960 . In 1970 he received his doctorate with Alfred Heuss with the dissertation Nomos and Psephisma: Investigation into Greek constitutional law. He achieved his habilitation in 1988 with the text Die Notatiorenschicht in the cities of the Greek East: Investigations on the political and social development in Hellenistic and Roman times , which was published in 1993 and met with a mixed response from the professional world.

Quaß worked as an academic councilor , most recently with the title of an adjunct professor, at the Göttingen Institute for Ancient History until he retired in 2006.
