Friedenskirche (Waldsiedlung)
The Friedenskirche is a Protestant church in the Leverkusen district of Schlebusch-Waldsiedlung. It belongs to the community of Schlebusch in the Evangelical Church District of Leverkusen .
history
The first Protestant service in the "Waldsiedlung" was celebrated on May 17, 1953 in the forest school. The foundation stone for the building of the church was laid on June 20, 1964. The inauguration took place on February 13, 1966. Shortly before, on the 4th Advent in 1965, the first service could be celebrated in the church. The first pastor at the Friedenskirche was Heinrich Glücks, later also superintendent of the church district Leverkusen.
A free-standing bell tower has been part of the Friedenskirche since 2014. In it hang three bronze bells with the names Resurrection , Peace and Joy ; Cast in the same year by Br. Michael OSB in the Maria Laach bell foundry . The 1.8 ton bell is coordinated with that of the neighboring church of St. Albertus Magnus.
