It employs around 900 people. B&F Vienna is a service provider for the funeral and cemetery sector.

Company headquarters in Simmering

In 2012, B&F Vienna was merged with the subsidiaries Bestattung Wien GmbH and Friedhöfe Wien GmbH at a joint location in Simmering. The new joint company headquarters were settled in early 2012. The building was designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects.

In the immediate vicinity of the company headquarters of B&F Vienna, the new building for the operations service of Bestattung Wien and the new home of Sarglogistik Wien were built. The move into the new building took place in early 2014. This means that large parts of the Vienna Funeral Services and Cemeteries division are based at the new location in Simmering.

Subsidiaries

Bestattung Wien GmbH

Bestattung Wien is, with almost 300 employees, the largest funeral home in Austria and, according to media reports, has a quasi-monopoly in the federal capital. The company has organized around two million funerals and worldwide repatriations. Almost 18,500 funeral services are performed annually. These are currently divided into around 8,500 burials, 2,500 cremations and other activities such as exhumations, transfers and services for other undertakers. Bestattung Wien operates fifteen customer service points in Vienna, most of which are located in registry offices. The services range from the organization of the funeral to assistance with official matters.

Friedhöfe Wien GmbH

The Vienna Cemeteries look after around 600,000 graves in 46 Vienna cemeteries. The Vienna cemeteries employ almost 400 people. The services of Friedhöfe Wien include the construction and maintenance as well as the allocation and administration of these graves, but also the maintenance and care of the cemetery facilities is part of their activities. More than 1,600 grave sites dedicated to honor by the City of Vienna are looked after by the Vienna Cemeteries. In addition, they provide assistance in cemetery matters and serve as green oases and recreational areas in the middle of the city. With the Vienna Central Cemetery, the Vienna Cemeteries look after the second largest cemetery in Europe.

The Simmering crematorium was the first fire hall in Austria. It was built according to plans by Clemens Holzmeister. The towers and battlements of the crematorium are reminiscent of the Neugebude Castle, in whose park the fire hall and urn grove are located. The Vienna Crematorium has been part of Wiener Stadtwerke since 2008 and is also a subsidiary of B&F Vienna. Around 6,000 cremations are carried out every year.

Tierfriedhof Wien GmbH
