Friedhelm Erwe (born July 23, 1922 in Herne ) is a German mathematician.

Erwe studied mathematics and physics in Münster and Bonn and received his doctorate in 1952 at the University of Bonn under Ernst Peschl ( On the simplicity barriers of certain functional families ). In 1956 he completed his habilitation in Bonn, where he became an adjunct professor in 1962 and a scientific adviser and professor in 1963. In 1966 he became a full professor at RWTH Aachen University .
