The cemetery Unterrath is in Düsseldorf district Unterrath situated cemetery . It was opened in 1807. After the old cemetery in the churchyard, at the (old) church “St. Maria under the Cross ”, was no longer sufficient, it was originally laid out in the size of one morning . On the older parts there are some old tombs from the middle of the 19th century. After the First and Second World War , there were extensions. Since the incorporation of Unterrath in 1909, it has belonged to the city of Düsseldorf. The communal cemetery encloses the St. Josef monastery cemetery. In 1931 a cemetery chapel with outbuildings was built. Before that, the funerals took place from the mourning house. In 1971 a cemetery of honor for 18 war dead was laid out. Since summer 2005, the cemetery has had new burial rooms. Today the area of ​​the cemetery is 9.71 hectares. The employees of the Unterrath cemetery also look after the cemeteries in the Kalkum and Angermund districts .
