Cemetery chapel (Weißenfels)
The cemetery chapel is a Gothic building in Weißenfels in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt . This is the choir of the former monastery church of the St. Claren monastery , which was moved here.
history
The Poor Clare Church, built in 1301, was demolished from 1882 onwards from some other sources after 1884. The choir, a late Gothic square building with a diamond-shaped net vault, was demolished and rebuilt true to the original as the chapel of the city cemetery in 1886. The church did without pomp and a tower, which is typical of the mendicant orders . After moving to the cemetery, the old choir was rededicated in 1886. In 1927 the vestibule and a sacristy were added.
