The Wolmirstedt cemetery chapel is a listed building in the city of Wolmirstedt in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in the Wolmirstedt cemetery , north of Wolmirstedt city center, west of Farsleber Strasse. In the local register of monuments it is registered as a cemetery chapel. To the north of the chapel there are grave monuments of the Katharinenkloster Wolmirstedt .

Design and history

The chapel was built in the neoclassic style as a plastered hall between 1925 and 1930. The facades of the side walls are structured by pilaster strips and plaster panels. The cornices above are designed like architraves . In the upper third of the side walls there are small rectangular windows arranged as a band. The entrance to the chapel is on the north side. It was designed with a simple portal wall in the style of Art Deco . Above it is the inscription Peace be with you ( Joh 20,19  LUT ) and on the gable a wrought-iron clover leaf cross .

On the narrow south side is the mausoleum of the Eggert family, which was built in 1855. It is made of natural stone blocks and has a round arched portal on the south side, which is flanked on both sides by oculi .
