Friedrich Weller Prize

The Friedrich Weller Prize is a German science award .

It is named after Friedrich Weller (1889–1980), full professor at the University of Leipzig and from 1943 to 1980 a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig .

The prize, endowed with 2,500 euros, has been awarded by the Saxon Academy of Sciences and the University of Leipzig at irregular intervals since 1985 to scholars in the field of history, literature and art of the Asian peoples, with special emphasis on India and the Far East, who live in the catchment area of ​​the Saxon Academy of Sciences or are closely connected to the work of Friedrich Wellers.

The prize is financed from the Friedrich Weller Fund at the Foundation of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig.
