Uozu ( Japanese 魚津 市 , -shi , literally: "Fish Harbor") is a city in Toyama Prefecture in Japan .

Uozu is northeast of Toyama and west of Kurobe on the Toyama Bay of the Sea of Japan .

The former village was the starting point of the nationwide rice unrest in 1918 .
