Friedrich Adolf Mehrtens
Friedrich Adolf Mehrtens (born April 22, 1840 in Neuenkirchen ; † May 31, 1899 in Hamburg ) was a German classical pianist, conductor and music teacher.
Mehrtens first worked as a school teacher for several years and then switched to music. From 1861 to 1862 he studied at the Leipzig Conservatory. He worked as a music teacher and conductor of various associations in Hamburg. From 1871 he headed the local Bach Society.
Mehrtens composed some major vocal and instrumental works, including a symphony in E flat major and a Te Deum. Few of his works have appeared in print.
