Friedrich Baumann (medical doctor)
Karl Eberhard Friedrich Baumann (born April 27, 1832 in Wiesbaden ; † February 4, 1906 in Schlangenbad ) was a German balneologist .
Baumann was appointed spa doctor in the Nassau spa town of Schlangenbad in 1859. He made great contributions to the social revival of the place in the second half of the 19th century, when Schlangenbad became a meeting place for the European nobility.
For this he was appointed to the secret medical council. Two years after his death, friends and admirers had a memorial erected for him. The monument made of white marble by the sculptor P. Feile shows Baumann's bust on a pedestal. It was originally set up in the middle of the health resort in Schlangenbad on Nassauer Allee, and later moved to its current location on Rheingauer Straße.
