Friedrich Hertlein

Friedrich Hertlein (born April 4, 1865 in Lehrensteinsfeld , † October 26, 1929 in Cannstatt ) was a German archaeologist , prehistorian and educator in Heidenheim an der Brenz .

Services

Hertlein was a pioneer in the scientific documentation of Roman provincial history in what is now Baden-Württemberg. He devoted himself to researching the Roman roads and fortifications in Roman Württemberg. The three-volume work Die Römer in Baden-Württemberg , which he wrote with Oscar Paret and Peter Goessler and was published between 1928 and 1932, is considered the standard work of archeology in southwest Germany and still serves as a reference today.
