Friedrich Mehler
Friedrich Mehler (born September 27, 1896 in Frankfurt am Main , † September 27, 1981 in Visby on Gotland ) was a German-Swedish composer , pianist and conductor .
Life
Friedrich Mehler studied from 1905 to 1914, first in Hanover , then with Hans Pfitzner in Berlin. In 1921 he moved to Sweden. As a choir and orchestra conductor, he shaped the musical life of Visby , where he also worked as a music teacher at the girls' school (1946–64) and at the grammar school (1952–60). In 1930 he founded Visby konsertförening (concert association; Gotlands konsertförening since 1973 ).
