Friedrich von Wernigerode († 1338 in Wernigerode ) was Count of Wernigerode .

epitaph

Its gray sandstone epitaph, which has been partially preserved , has been set into the wall on the inner side of the southern sacristy wall of the Sylvestri Church in Wernigerode . The incised drawing shows Friedrich, in his right hand the bare sword shouldered like a Roland and in the left a falcon on the pole . On his beardless head he has a count's hat with fur trim , around his upper body he wears a collar and coat. The lower right half of the tombstone is missing. The inscription can be seen: ANNO DOMINI MCCCXXX [VIII ...] REQUIESCAT IN PACE ". This indicates that Count Friedrich founded the Barbarakapelle am Gerhause , where the stone probably originally stood.

Remarks
