The Friis Hills are a group of up to 1,750 m high hills in East Antarctic Victoria Land . They extend for 10 km on the north side of the bend of Taylor Glacier .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named her in 1975 after the geographer and archivist Herman Ralph Friis (1905-1989), head of the Center for Polar Archives of the National Archives , who worked as an exchange scientist on the Japanese station on East Ongul Island between 1969 and served in 1970 and was a member of the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names from 1957 to 1973.
