Fritz Belleville
Fritz Belleville (also Fritz Belleville-Jünger ; born December 30, 1903 in Berlin ; † May 3, 1994 in Basel ; pseudonym: Fritz Merz ) was a German political activist.
Life
Belleville studied law in Berlin and Frankfurt. In 1922 he joined the Communist Party of Germany , from which he was expelled in 1926. He then turned to Trotskyism . In 1932 Belleville came to Basel, where she studied economics , history and philosophy and was active in the Marxist student group; from 1933 to 1934 he was a member of the Marxist Action. From 1932 to 1934 he was a member of the Trotskyist movement . During the war, Belleville was temporarily in labor camps ; it was not until 1954 that he received the Swiss settlement permit . In 1940 he was expatriated from Germany; It was not until 1977 that he took on German citizenship again . After 1945 he was a proofreader , consultant at the Swiss Workers' Education Center and president of the Basel group of freethinkers .
