Fritz Brütsch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fritz Brütsch (born February 11, 1915 in Singen (Hohentwiel) , † March 28, 1953 ) was a resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Brütsch headed the resistance group G , which organized the resistance of young people in Württemberg with different worldviews, who were united by their rejection of the Nazi regime.

As the son of two active communists, Fritz Brütsch turned to communism at an early age. He was active in the workers' sports club and headed the young pioneers in Stuttgart - an association for communists aged 10-14.

On April 17, 1933, Brütsch was sent to the Heuberg concentration camp together with his parents . In the late summer of 1933 he and his mother were released. The father stayed in the camp. Brütsch lost his apprenticeship and he and his mother had to rely on the financial support of comrades to make a living. When Brütsch was finally able to continue his apprenticeship as a precision mechanic, he was, as a former concentration camp inmate, under observation by a Nazi chairman at his workplace.

Brütsch was arrested on December 21, 1934 and sentenced to 4 years and 4 months in prison. Following his prison sentence, he was sent to the Welzheim concentration camp until 1942 . He was then trained on the Heuberg for the Penal Division 999 and became a prisoner of war while on duty in Africa. After the collapse of the Nazi regime, Brütsch organized the first congress of anti-fascist youth. Even after the war he was involved in the KPD , for which he ran unsuccessfully on the Württemberg-Baden state list in the 1949 federal election. An illness that befell him during his African captivity contributed to his early death.
