Fritz Brandstätter
Friedrich "Fritz" Brandstätter , also Brandstetter , (born November 29, 1891 , † October 7, 1926 ) was an Austrian football player . The defender was overshadowed by his brother, the former record national player Seppl Brandstätter , but also played in the Austrian national team.
Career
Fritz Brandstätter began his football career together with his older brother Seppl in 1908 at Rapid Vienna . He was one of the famous Rapid team that won the first Austrian football championship in 1912 under coach Dionys Schönecker . In the same year he came to his only appearance in the Austrian national team, in the duel against Hungary on November 3, 1912. His ambitious career came to an abrupt end with the First World War . Fritz Brandstätter sustained a serious knee injury which no longer allowed him to play football. He died in 1926 of a lung disease , also a late consequence of the First World War.
