Fritz Brause is a German jazz pop / lounge bar jazz band from the Ruhr area that formed in 1983 in Bochum . The band initially attracted attention with instrumental music , but with the entry of the singer Sabine Sabine (bourgeois Sabine Speiskorn) in 1984, they were enriched by a concise singing voice. In terms of style, bands like Shakatak , Working Week , Style Council , Swing Out Sister and Matt Bianco are comparable to Fritz Brause . As with the English band Matt Bianco, the namesake was not a member of the band; both Fritz Brause and Matt Bianco are fictional people.

Career and publications

With the LP “Shilly Shally” Fritz Brause managed to reach fifth place in the German album charts in 1985; the single of the same name was one of the most played songs on German radio this year. The following year the album "Bow-Tie and Rubberboots" was released, which also sold well, but did not quite follow the commercial success of its predecessor. In 1987 Sabine Sabine left the band to devote herself to her solo career and, among other things, to work as a singing teacher. Her place was taken by Linda Fields, with whom the album "Don't Go" (released in 1989) was recorded. For the crime scene "Blutspur" with Götz George as Duisburg inspector Schimanski, Fritz Brause provided the soundtrack with the song "Only Lies" in the same year . This also appeared in 1990 on the best-of album "Ambiente". In the meantime, the band's artists - with the exception of bass player Dieter Exter - had turned to their bread-and-butter jobs, but the formation did not break up. In 1997 the band got together again with their original line-up with Sabine Sabine at the microphone. This renewed collaboration was followed in 2001 by the fifth and so far last studio album "Five"; Fritz Brause were and are particularly successful as a live band in the "Ruhrpott" region and occasionally play small concerts that are announced on their Facebook page.
