Fritz Giovanoli
Fritz Giovanoli (born March 16, 1898 in Montreux-Vieux (Alsace), † June 26, 1964 in Bern ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).
Giovanoli was Bernese Grand Councilor from 1934 to 1946 and Member of the National Council several times between 1938 and 1963, and from 1946 to 1964, Councilor of the Canton of Bern . He belonged to the left wing of the SP and campaigned against frontism in the 1930s . As a member of the government, he expanded the Bern hospital system; During the Cold War he campaigned for an open Switzerland and against nuclear armament.
