Fritz Klocke (local history researcher)

Fritz Klocke (born October 12, 1898 in Dessau , † January 5, 1978 in Ballenstedt ) was a German teacher, folklorist and local history researcher.

Life

After training as a teacher and completing his doctorate, he was active in Ballenstedt in Anhalt, where from 1925 he took over the construction and management of the local history museum on the 2nd floor of the large inn. In almost 50 years of field work, he collected extensive material on the folklore of the Northern Harz, for example, in 1947 he made the megalithic graves near Ermsleben known. He also wrote numerous essays on the way of life of the population in the Vorharz. When he died in 1978, he left an extensive scientific legacy.
