Fritz Oelze

Fritz Oelze (born May 9, 1923 in Dahme / Mark ) is a German doctor and former member of the Hamburg Parliament for the SPD .

Live and act

Fritz Oelze was the son of a teacher. In 1941 he graduated from high school in Jüterbog , then he was drafted into military service. In 1946 he began studying medicine in Munich, which he completed in 1950 with a state examination and doctorate . His dissertation topic: contact disorder and disease . From 1953 he worked in the general hospital Ochsenzoll in Hamburg. In 1958 he was appointed chief physician in the Naturopathy and Physical Medicine department.

In 1947 he joined the SPD and worked in the SPD district of Hamburg-Nord . In March 1968 he replaced the resigned Hans Dewitz as a member of the Hamburg parliament and was re-elected for a further electoral term until 1974. There he campaigned for nurses in hospitals: his criticism: "The idealism of nurses has been used as a cost-saving factor for years". As editor of the German Nursing Journal , Oelze sought to make demands for better care heard. In 1982 he was one of the founders of the German Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and became an honorary member of the related Belgian and French medical associations. In 2003 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.

Fritz Oelze is married and has five children.
