Fritz Stocker (* 1894 ; † August 1967 ) was a German local politician ( SPD ).

Career until 1933

Stocker worked as a machinist (factory worker). When the SPD local association Schrobenhausen was founded on February 8, 1925, he became secretary, and from June 21, 1925, he also worked as a youth leader. Stocker is now an elected city councilor and, like his three party comrades, was dismissed from this honorary position after the NSDAP came to power. He was imprisoned in April 1933.

District Administrator

It was thanks to Stocker and courageous fellow citizens that the Schrobenhausen Paarbrücke near the Donaumühle was not blown up by the approaching Allies on April 28, 1945. After the invasion on April 28, 1945, he was appointed by the American military government as district administrator for the Upper Bavarian district of Schrobenhausen . He remained in office until the end of July 1945. The appointment came from his place of work in the Donaumühle.

mayor

From 1945 to 1967 he was first mayor of the city of Schrobenhausen , initially appointed provisionally, after the city council election on January 27, 1946, eleven to one vote by the city council. In the direct elections in 1948, 1952, 1956 and 1960 he was confirmed in office by the citizens. In 1966 he was elected again with 93.43 percent of the vote, but he had to resign on May 31, 1967 for health reasons; he died in August 1967. The popular Fritz Stocker led the city carefully, especially with regard to the integration of the displaced and the development of a modern infrastructure.

Honors

Stocker was made an honorary citizen. After his death, the city named the Mayor-Stocker-Ring after him.
